Shadow Presses His Luck

I know this is probably the biggest image I've ever submitted, and although this is only the second time I significantly used traditional art as well as digital art, this is the first time I had a traditional work with digital effects that have a considerably large amount of detail.

And this is also a contest entry - this time for ~sonamy-666. He asked us what enjoyment Shadow would be going through if he was never frozen for 50 years and Maria never shot. This meant what he would be doing in the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, or 1990s.

I decided to put Shadow as a contestant on the classic 1980s game show, "Press Your Luck." This show lasted from September 1983 to September 1986 on CBS. Game Show Network (now known simply as GSN) brought back the episodes as part of it's schedule for a few years. Although PYL is no longer part of GSN's schedule, fandom as well as increase of technology as a result of GSN putting it back on the air resulted in a few games for the PC, Wii, and the DS, as well as a DVD game and even a small handheld LCD version.

In 2002, GSN aired a revised version known as "Whammy! The All New Press Your Luck." This revival, with Todd Newton as host, lasted for only a couple years. In 2004, no more episodes of "Whammy!" were taped although reruns aired for a few more years.

In March of 2006, the host of the original PYL, Peter Tomarken, was killed along with his wife in a crash involving their own private plane. He was 63 years old.

With rooting from Maria in the audience, Shadow's won a lot of money so far. Hopefully he won't lose it to those dreaded Whammies.
