So it costs over $60,000 a month to keep the SS-United-States in that Philadelphia and $300,000 to tow her to New York. Well, I heard that the S.S. United States Conservancy raised over $600,000 over the past seven weeks, $85 of which came from me. I was overjoyed when I heard the news yesterday. Considering that today is Thanksgiving, this is one thing I'm absolutely thankful for.
Hopefully by March or April, she'll be back in New York.
Earlier today, the S.S. United States Conservancy announced that they've struck a deal with U.S. based Crystal Cruises to not only save the last of the American liners from the scrap yards but to make her seaworthy once again.
I've been listening to this all day ever since I heard the fantastic news.
